Senior School Athletics Championships

Yesterday tamariki from Kererū and Ruru competed in the Senior School Athletics Championships held at Te Kahu Park. We were lucky enough to be able to utilise facilities and equipment from Awatea Athletics Club at the park including their brand new long jump pit, running lanes and gazebo.

All students demonstrated great perseverance, sportsmanship, and a willingness to try new things. It was great to see the children have an opportunity to compete in all disciplines, and many surprised themselves with their performances.

Students will be notified regarding their entries to the West Zones Championships by the end of next week.

Thank you to all of our Wigram School whānau that attended to support their athletes, especially those who took part in the whānau race and helped with stations. A big thank you to Awatea Athletics for lending their facilities and equipment and helping us to have a wonderful athletics day.

By the way - the House Leaders did beat the teachers in the relay race.  However I think Ms Lunan fell over to let the students get back in front!!!!  The lead photo shows the relay competitors.
