Welcome to Term 4

This term has started with some wild windy weather and we have seen the gardens, sand areas and softfall take a hammering.  Thankfully we were able to get a truckload of bark chips for the Junior playground delivered on Monday to make it safe for the children to play on.

Massive thankyou to the families who put themselves forward to support us while Mr Rob is recovering from his hand injury.  We hope Rob will be able to come back next week on light duties for a week or two.

We wish Kereru great weather and fun for their class camp next week. - Have a great time.

Camp Fundraising - Bake Sale

Thanks heaps to all the families in Kereru and Ruru who provided 'goodies' for sale.  Thanks to the families who provided some coins for children to buy the goodies as well.  The camp will benefit by $1600 from this one event.  Much appreciated.

Hats

Reminder that hats are to be worn in Term 4.  Please make sure the hats are named so if they get misplaced they can be returned to the right owner.  Has are available for purchase from the school office - $18.

2024

Planning is underway for our 2024 teaching teams and we are just finalising our appointments for the year.  We are going to have the same overall Learningspace year level split as 2023.  The Pukeko building will have Year New Entrant/Year 1 students, the Toroa/Kotuku learningspaces will have Year 2/3 and the Ruru/Kereru learningspace will have Year 4-6 students.

Parents have until 16 November to let us know if they have any preferences to the placement of their child within these teams.  In our next newsletter we will be able to let you know which teachers are teaching in which learningspaces.

The Board of Trustees has granted Miss Trish Bunting leave for the 2024 year to pursue her current passion with Numicon and she will be supporting schools across the South Island with introducing Numicon to their skill set.  In 2024 our school has been used as a showcase for Numicon learning and we have hosted lots of schools here.  Trish will continue to support our Numicon in 2024 and we will continue to be a host school for showcasing our learning.

Fiafia Evening

Great night for presenting some Pasifika songs to our Uru Manuka Cluster of schools.  Great to see all of our parents turning up to support our group.  Well done to all.  See the lovely group photo below.

Chromebook Information Evening for 2024 Year 4-6 Parents

We are planning to hold an information evening about Chromebooks in a couple of weeks time.  Please look out for the Hero notice to confirm the day and time for this.  While it is mainly levelled at families who will have their child in Year 4 2024, who will be new to chromebooks, it will also cover the lastest purchase option through our Uru Manuka Trust.  The Trust has brought together a bundle price that covers - the device, a bag, 3 years insurance and the set up on the school network.  Our school technician also supports these chromebooks at school.
