Puketeraki Rūnanga is offering a 90 minute free guided walk on Saturday 21 April through the historic Te Pā ā Te Wera on the dramatic Huriawa Peninsula. Walk starts 10.30 am.
Tour Guide from Kāti Huirapa Ki Puketeraki, and linking Marine restoration efforts with the whenua restoration on the centuries old Te Pā ā Te Wera.
The walking tour takes you through the historic living areas, learn stories of the past inhabitants, the restoration efforts of the present generation, gaining an insight into the importance of this treasured landscape and the cultural connection between the mountains, the river and the ocean.
The walkers will meet at the Karitāne Foreshore Reserve beside the boating club and public toilets.
This walk will be on come rain, hail or shine!
Plenty of free parking.
Easy walking for all ages and fitness levels .
