Seaweed and Sushi Cruise

Port to Port Cruises & Wildlife Tours —

Sunday 10 October 2 tours: Tour 1 -Port Chalmers at 10am or Portobello at 10.15am. Tour 2: Port Chalmers at 3:35pm or Portobello at 3:45pm. Join skipper Rachel and edible seaweed expert Izumi, onboard MV Sootychaser on this new Port to Port experience Depart on a cruise either from Port Chalmers or Portobello, for an edible seaweed experience. First tour is nearly SOLD OUT.

Learn about the sustainable ways wild local seaweeds can be harvested and prepared for eating..

On this special cruise we will view seaweed from the boat and go ashore to find some different kinds. 

There will also be a chance to make and eat your own sushi under the guidance of Izumi (using store bought ingredients).

There may also be an opportunity to sample local seaweeds during the cruise.


Morning Tour: Departs from Port Chalmers at 10am or Portobello at 10.15am (please write PORTOBELLO DEPARTURE  in your booking notes)

Afternoon Tour: Departs from Port Chalmers at 3:35pm or Portobello at 3:45pm (please write PORTOBELLO DEPARTURE in your booking notes)

Cost: Adults $37 Children $25 (5-15 years)

Price includes: Return ferry/cruise, expert guides and sushi for a light brunch.
