On this SUNDAY 30 APRIL...Orokonui Challenge RUN for Takahe and Kaka Conservation  

Orokonui Ecosanctuary —

The Orokonui Challenge RUN will start at 11.30am and registrations at 10.30 am.   Run a beautiful 18.5 km that includes the Ecosanctuary forest, Doctors Point beach and the McKessar track.  Proceeds from the run will go towards the feeding costs of the Kaka and Takahe.

The race is fantastic and beautiful all the way - it includes Orokonui's protected forest, Orokonui estuary, Blueskin Bay and Doctors Point beach. Great views and great wildlife! Terrain varies from compacted gravel, grass, beach, asphalt and coarse gravel. The run includes 500-600m of climbing.

All proceeds from the Orokonui Challenge RUN will go towards takahe and kaka conservation efforts at Orokonui Ecosanctuary.

Otago Access Radio's Jeff Harford interviewed Orokonui Manager, Chris Baillie, about the Challenge. It has lots of useful information but please note that this was recorded before the Run part of the challenge was postponed until Sunday 30 April.
