On Saturday 21 April at 10am start your day with a 12km walk through Orokonui Ecosanctuary forest and estuary. Funds raised will go towards the food for Takahe and Kaka. This will help the Ecosanctuary to overcome their challenge of funding the supplementary food bill of $9000/year.
You may well think - all that land surely there would be enough food - but the Ecosanctuary has regenerating coastal forest. It can provide some of the bird food needs but they still need supplements until the forest matures and can provide the diversity and variety of food required.
