SCHOOL NOTICES:

HOME LEARNING / READING BAGS  - These are being sent home today as there are a few notices coming home. Please ensure these are returned on Monday.

ROOM 2 - Lucy Cookson is teaching in Room 2 as Principal Release next week, except for Thursday when Kathy is in.

MALVERN SPORTS SPECTACULAR (YEAR 3 & 4) Please click here to complete the permission form for this activity.

ACCOUNTS -  All stationery from the start of the year has now been added to your Linc-Ed account and these will be sent via email this afternoon. As this is a new system please let me know of any issues: principal@windwhistle.school.nz

RESILIENCE WORKSHOP - This is the second workshop in this series, you will recall we offered the first workshop during Term 4 2018. I have spoken to Ursula, our facilitator from the School Based Mental Health Team and she has assured me that although it is beneficial to complete both workshops they can be completed independently as well. Please email Rhonda on: office@windwhistle.school.nz to indicate if you will be attending so that we can organise catering for a small afternoon tea for participants.  These workshops are open to the wider community as well so feel free to share and register whānau and friends.

STUDENT PROFILES - These are being sent home today. The purpose of sending these each year is to ensure we have current and correct information regarding each of our students. Please take the time to check over this, make any necessary changes / additions and then return to us at school.

WINDWHISTLE SCHOOL DIGITAL USER AGREEMENTS - These are also being sent home today. The purpose of these is to ensure that each child and their whānau engage in a discussion about our school's role,  and each child's role in using digital technologies safely at school. Please take the time to look over this agreement, sign the agreement and return it to school.

ANNUAL BULB FUNDRAISER - Once again we will be offering the NZ bulbs for sale as a school fundraiser. A catalogue will be sent home with your child and a limited amount of extras will be available at the school office or from Rebecca Rose. Your help with selling and collating your orders is much appreciated!!! Roll in the orders. Please see the PDF attachment in this What's On for order info or contact Rebecca Rose.

SEWLYN SPORTS TRUST - ROGAINE - After the success of last years event, the Selwyn Sports Trust are once again organising a rogaine event in Hororata on 20 March. Rogaining involves teams of two to five people visiting as many checkpoints as they wish in a set time period. The checkpoints are free-choice and have different point values so strategy and route selection becomes a vital component. This fun rogaine is suitable for every level. At this stage we have been given some general info, see below. If you are interested in being involved in this event please let me knwo: principal@windwhistle.school.nz

Venue: Farm in Hororata (Specific farm TBA)
For: Yr5-8
Time: there will be two sessions on offer after the popularity of the
event last year. 10-12pm and 12.30-2.30pm

We will have more detail pertaining to this event and registration
information in the near future but for those interested please lock it in the diary.

WINDWHISTLE POOL - Alida and Rebecca do an absolutely fantastic job of maintaining our pool as well as training up our pool users every year, we are all very grateful for the work they put in to creating a safe and healthy pool environment for us all to enjoy. Next year we will be looking to train up another parent as Alida will be handing over this responsibility when Max and Alex leave for Darfield High School. If you are interested in taking over this position please have a chat to Alida, Rebecca or myself about what this would involve. There is some initial training that the school would fund. As a bonus you do get a free pool key for you and your families use!

SNOWDON LAMB SALE - A massive thanks to Gee, Lucy, Nic, Sarah and Will for helping out at the sausage sizzle at this years lamb sale. A hot day but no wind so the gazebo went up easy peasy. Thanks again to Alida for sourcing the donated sausages. We raised a huge $1,139.23 for our school thanks, in large part, to the very kind donations from Snowdon Station, Bromleys Butchery, PGG Wrightson and HRL. This money will be put aside to go towards our whole school camp later in the year.

CURRENT POLICY REVIEW - We have two policies for review on School Docs this term. We really value your input on these reviews so please take the time to complete them. Remember both the username and password for the site in the word: windwhistle. Click each policy to access it's review form.

WINDWHISTLE GOLF CLASSIC - The date for our major fundraising event has been set for Thursday May 9th with a postponement of Friday May 10th. Please save this date.

BOT ELECTIONS - These are coming up later this year. If you are interested in joining our Windwhistle School Board of Trustees please have a chat to a current board member to find out more about what this responsibility entails. More information will follow later this term.

LINC-ED - We are currently updating the Reading Progressions and will let you know when these are up to date.

COMMUNITY NOTICES:

MCDONALDS DUATHLON -  Click here for more info on this event. Let Rhonda know if you would like an entry form as she has some at the office.

PHOTOS FROM THIS WEEK:

  • This week we have some more photos from our Top Team event last week.
  • We also have a few photos from the Malvern Triathlon. Well done to Fergus D, Sam J and Sam D for representing Windwhistle at this event. Official results are not in yet but we have been told the boys did very well! It's fantastic to see our students representing Windwhistle School with such pride.
  • Check out the photos to spark some discussions with your children.
