SCHOOL NOTICES:

CROSS COUNTRY - This is being held at Glentunnel School on Friday 24 May. We will be training for this leading up to the event. Please ensure that your children bring sensible running shoes for this each day.

REDUCE, RE-USE, RECYCLE - At present all school waste goes to landfill as there is no recycling available to us that we are aware of. Due to Windwhistle School's Enviro-School status we are uncomfortable with recyclables heading to the landfill. This is why we encourage children to bring litter free lunches and take all rubbish and recycling home with them. This also enables you to see what they are eating from their lunch boxes. As mum's we understand that 'mucky' lunchboxes are a pain and this can be especially noticeable when half eaten fruit is left in lunchboxes, this is why we have a school worm farm. The worms will happily eat most fruit leftovers, as well as sandwich crusts etc. Just no citrus or meat allowed. Yoghurt pottles can also be a pain but can be alleviated by purchasing larger tubs and then repackaging into leak proof containers - we will do our best at this end to ensure lids are put back on before these come home! CONCERNS AND COMPLAINTS - This process has recently seen some updates following from feedback received as part of our policy and procedures consultations. You can find a new flow chart of this process attached to this What's On. You can also locate this outside our school office. 

EDUCATION OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM (EOTC) UPDATES -  Following recommendations from our policy consultants and in line with industry best practice we are changing the way we seek consent for low risk EOCT opportunities. At the start of each year every family will receive a blanket consent from for each child in attendance at Windwhistle School. This form will cover consent for low risk activities only. Overnight and more adventurous activities will still require separate consent. As this change is only now coming into effect we will be sending these forms home at the start of Term 2. Each child will be bringing home these forms on Monday. Please complete and return them to us before Friday on week 1. Please be aware that in using the Education Outdoors NZ we are following best practice for ALL schools and in doing so some questions may seem less relevant to us than others. We are hoping that this change will enable a smoother organisation process for EOTC opportunities. Information will still be shared about each opportunity via theWhat's On or email and parents will still be contacted regarding transport. If you have any questions around this change please feel free to get in touch.

Clothes and Accessories Swap (Greendale School Envirogroup Initiative)

• Greendale Hall Fri 3rd May 6.30pm. 
• Gold coin donation entry please - raising funds for school vege garden. Learn how to put outfits together in a "Polkadotcom" talk. 
• Learn about skin from "Bloom".
• "Sew delightful", "Twice as nice" are also coming.
• Leave clean clothes/accessories (any size) at Darfield Library or Greendale School OR bring them along on the night. Someone will put them on the racks.
• Bring coat hangers, racks if you have them. 
• Bring your friends and family for a cheap fun night out!
