Wow! It's been a year already!

Bronwen Seaward —

It's hard to believe that just over a year ago I was offered the opportunity to be your Principal... and what a year it's been!

I have experienced many things for the first time - both challenges and celebrations. I have made changes for the school that have affected children, school families and staff in both positive and negative ways.  The positives I celebrate, the negatives I look at as opportunities for learning - the same attitude I try to develop in our tamariki.

I look back on the year with mostly fond memories and look forward to the next. Each day I put one foot in front of the other and keep going, keep trying to be the best I can be for Windwhistle School.  As I sit at my desk, writing this, the last child has gone home for the year, the staff are gone, and the building is quiet. I contemplate - what will I do differently next year? How can we make Windwhistle even better for our children?  Please feel free to drop me an email or pop in next week if you have some ideas or advice you would like me to consider for 2019.

In the prize giving last week I said a very public goodbye to our Year 6 students as they graduated from Windwhistle School.  That was their time to shine, time to acknowledge their contribution to our school and the successes they will be at their new schools. Later on Friday and today some more private farewells were had and acknowledgements made.  We have three Year 6 students leaving and I wish Emma all the best at St Margarets and Emily and Tahu all the best for Darfield High School.  I would also like to wish Connor all the best for Waihi and Henry and Jonty all the best at Methven. We at Windwhistle will miss all six of you and can't wait to hear about your new adventures next time we see you. To all of you I say "Ka kite ano" - We will see you again, with much aroha from your Windwhistle Whanau xo
