SCHOOL NOTICES:
WELCOME TO SCHOOL OLIVER - WE ARE SO PLEASED TO SEE YOU!
TRIP TO TOWN - We have sufficient transport now and have also ironed out the details for the day. Children will be able to travel on the bus as usual in the morning. In the afternoon the Glenroy run will run in reverse as children will be dropped off on our way back to school. We will text when we reach Hororata so that you know when to come out to your gates to meet the children. The Coleridge run will run as normal. More information about what children will need to bring etc will be sent in a separate email on Monday. Any questions please ask.
Room 1 & 2 Interchange
On Thursday afternoons this term during weeks 1-5, Room 1 are with Mrs Mehrtens learning music and dance, Room 2 are with Mrs Mac learning Te Reo and sign language.
MIHI / PEPEHA - Kia ora koutou. Later on this term we hope to be visiting our local marae at Taumutu. In preparation for this the children have begun learning their pepeha/mihi. However I am aware that some children will already have their own so if you have any information relevant to your child, could you please send it along to school.
Room 2 Character Strengths (Health – mental wellbeing)
Yesterday the children brought home a copy of a review worksheet they completed, reminding them of their character strengths learning so far this year. The sharing of this with you was to help keep you informed about what’s going on with this aspect of their learning. Thank you for your ongoing support of this learning at home. Yesterday the children role played in small groups to an audience what it was like to employ various character strengths in tricky life situations and I was impressed with the level of their understanding now. I also note that they often use the character strength “lingo” automatically in their daily lives which is great to see! For homework they were asked to note how many stickers had been applied to various character strengths on their “at home” chart (term 1) and we will use these totals next Thursday to discuss what their top strengths might be. (Don’t worry if not many stickers were added….they each have a similar chart going at school). They are also being “character strength detectives” at home this week! Golf Tournament Baking Delivery Plan
Hi all,
Robyn very kindly has offered again to assist us with transporting your baked goods to Will and Jo Innes`s home next week for the tournament next Thursday 9th May.
Very important however that we get this right because as you are aware there is also the school trip to town on Wednesday involving the school bus.
For the Glenroy bus run, baking can only go on the bus on Wednesday afternoon. If you want to take it any other time, you need to get it to Jo and Will yourselves.
For Coleridge Road bus run, Robyn will take baking on Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning.

HORORATA NIGHT GLOW - The Hororata Night Glow is coming up on the 18th of May. Volunteers are needed to help run a stall fundraising for the school. This year we will again be selling light up products for kids – light sabers, glow sticks, glow jewellery etc. The money raised will be going towards scooter ramps and jumps for the children to use at break times. Please get in touch with Sarah on 3185120 or 0277149159 if you can help. An hour or two of your time is greatly appreciated. Get in quick to get your preferred time slot!
Board Of Trustees Elections- By now you should of all received a nomination form for the upcoming Board of Trustees Election. We are looking for 3 positions to be filled. Please forward your nominations to Rhonda before Friday 17 May as this is the closing day for nominations. If you need another nomination form or have not received one, please contact Rhonda also.
CROSS COUNTRY - This is being held at Glentunnel School on Friday 24 May. We will be training for this leading up to the event. Please ensure that your children bring sensible running shoes for this each day.
