Increase Winter Cold, Sickness and Flu

Andrew Retallick —

Over the past two weeks, we have noticed an increase in colds, sickness and flu symptoms in our school community.

If your child is unwell with cold, sickness or flu symptoms, please keep them at home until they are well.

To help prevent the spread of illness at school, we are:

  • Handwashing: Encouraging students to wash their hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

  • Covering coughs and sneezes: Reminding students to use a tissue or their elbow to cover their mouth and nose.

  • Hygiene: Ensuring students have easy access to soap, water, and tissues.

  • Ventilation: Keeping classrooms well-ventilated with fresh air and good airflow to reduce airborne viruses.

  • Staying home when sick: Reinforcing that staying home when unwell is the most effective way to stop illness spreading.
