Important Community Notice
Kia ora Parents and Whānau, Over the course of Term 1, we have noticed an increase in anti-social behaviour occurring around the school grounds after hours and during weekends.
This has included graffiti, damage to buildings, and vandalism.
More concerningly, there have also been incidents involving threatening or inappropriate behaviour from teenagers and/or adults in Owen Stalker Park, the tennis courts, the Rangiora-Woodend Road car park, the half pipe, and on the Recreation Field. Some of these incidents have flowed into the school day through students' use of social media outside of school, impacting both our teachers and students.
We’ve also seen a rise in students remaining on school grounds unsupervised after hours, often still in school uniform. This makes it more difficult to manage behaviour and ensure the safety of everyone in our school community.
We take these matters seriously and are committed to keeping our school a safe and welcoming place. We have asked the Police and members of our wider community to increase patrols around the school, particularly after hours and during weekends.
Please support us by reminding young people of the importance of respecting school property and our community. If you witness any suspicious or unsafe behaviour, we encourage you to report it directly to the Police by calling the 105 non-emergency line or by submitting an online report at https://www.police.govt.nz.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us care for and protect our school.
Ngā mihi nui,
