Te Ngahere Week 3

Mike Crawford —

A few notes around BYOD, Maths Buddy and Swimming for this week.

Bring Your Own Device programme

Thank you to the families and students who have expressed an interest in BYOD. As we get our literacy and numeracy programmes up and running this week. We will be able to accomodate the students who wish to bring their devices to assist them on Tuesday.

If you have yet to sign this 2021 BYOD form,(included as a PDF will be made available to take home by your student tomorrow. As much as we would like to make this a google form to click and sign online, it must be read by parent and their child to understand the responsibilities that come with joining the BYOD programme

Remember - Your child does not miss out on anything by not Bringing their own device. We have our own devices at school at a 1 device to 4 students ratio.

Mathsbuddy

Thank you to the families who have so far signed up for mathsbuddy.co.nz

If you are unconvinced of its benefits, please try a trial by going to the website and signing up. Mr Crawford "through my 8 years in education I've tried many different online maths programmes and Mathsbuddy is easily the most powerful, cost beneficial and connected to our maths curriculum.

It you're eager to sign up, you can pay $30 through our office or online. As soon as the payment comes through we can sign your child up and have them using it with their peers immediately. We will be launching Maths buddy for those who have signed up at the start of week 4

We would love to have all students signed up to this programme in Te Ngahere. This is not a one off, flash in the pan programme, it extends all the way through to Te Maunga. After seeing success early in the year 7/8s we extended it to Te Ngahere in 2018.

Swimming Sports on Friday
Thank you to all the families who have returned swimming permission slips, money,  and filled out the swimming consent form online. Any questions can sent to L.french@woodend.school.nz for Te Maunga or c.loose@woodend.school.nz for Te Ngahere.

We will have some photos from our orientation week and te tiriti o te waitangi to share in the coming week.

Thank you
Mike, Caitlin, & Louise
