Kia ora e te whānau - Welcome to Week 7 in Te Hapua

J Bartlett —

We have had a wonderful few weeks of learning and growing in Te Hapua. Read on for some reminders for the next two weeks.

Luke the Pukeko, our team mascot, lives in our learning spaces and is always looking for students showing our ō Tātou Pou which are our school values.

These values are...

Rangatiratanga  - displaying bravery and self management skills

Kotahitanga  - displaying team playing skills and being a great role model

Auahuatanga  - exploring creativity and self expression

Mōhiotanga  - displaying a growth mindset

Each Friday we choose a child who has been displaying one of these values to take Luke home for the weekend.  We enjoy sharing photos of Luke the Pukeko when he returns and have attached some photos to this newsletter. Well done to all the students who were awarded a weekend of fun with Luke.

School Drop off:  Our school gates open for students at 8.30am which is when teachers are available to greet their learners.  The bell then goes at 8.55am which is time for the students to settle on the mat ready for the morning session.  We find students settle a little easier into this part of the day if they have farewelled family members before the start of school bell.  Please talk to your child's pakeke teacher if you need to discuss how to make this time easier for your child if they are feeling upset or having difficulty saying goodbye.

No school on Thursday - This Thursday the teaching staff will not be at school due to the strike, therefore there will be no school for the students.

Missing watch:  Have you seen this watch?  This watch went missing a couple of weeks ago from class.  We have searched for this watch in the class and are now thinking a child might have accidently taken it home.  Please return to Miss B if you find it.

Lost property:  We have a large amount of drink bottles, containers, hats and jerseys in Mrs Bartlett's space.  If you are missing anything please feel free to pop in to see if it is yours.  Named lost property will be returned to the student.

If you have any questions please touch base with your child's pakeke teacher.

Have a wonderful week!
