Week 6 in Te Awa.

Louise Hayes —

Kia Ora e te whanau. We hope that you had a great long weekend as we head into the second half of the term.

The teachers had a fabulous day on Friday at the Teacher Only Day where we learnt about a range of different skills and approaches that we hope to bring into the classroom. We have all been working hard behind the scenes testing children and beginning to write learning posts about your children which will be published later this term.

School photos. Just a reminder that we have Heritage Productions coming to take class photos on Friday. Please remember to have your child dressed in correct uniform. If any families want a family photo taken, we will need the form filled in and back to the office before Thursday so that numbers can be catered for. The form is attached below.

Sausage sizzles. This Friday also sees the return of the lunchtime sausage sizzle.

Sausages- $2.  Cookies $1.20

* Money in an envelope

* Name, order, amount enclosed and the name of your child's team e.g.  Te Awa.

* Online payments accepted but they need to be put through by Thursday so that we can pick them up online on the Friday morning. You also need to put the actual paper order through as per instructions above and just add paid online to the order.

* Orders can be handed in at the Tuck Shop window on the Friday morning.

Whare Manu day. This term we will hold Whare Manu day on Friday 17th June. We will be taking part in some Jumping June activities. More information on this later.

Swimming. We have had a few queries regarding swimming in Te Awa. Our team will be swimming in Term 3 this year. We will give more details on this as it gets nearer to the time. This might be a good time to start checking that all pieces of school uniform are clearly named.

Toys at school. We have noticed toys are starting to creep back into school. This a reminder that children are not to bring toys to school unless they are to be shown during news time. If your child brings a toy for their Show and Tell item, it will be kept safely in the Teacher's office.

Student Teachers. Te Awa will be home to two student teachers for the next two weeks. They are studying at UC and come to us in their first year of training. They will come back to spend four more weeks with us in in term four. April Bonney will be working with Mrs Hayes and Miss Clarke, Pearl Brenssell will be working with Mr Langlands and Miss Purves. Please say hello to them if you notice them around.

Stars of the week. Check out our Stars below.

As always get in touch with us if you have any queries or questions. Have a great week.
