Kia ora e tē whanua - Welcome back to Term 4 in Te Hapua

J Bartlett - October 11, 2023

We hope you had a wonderful break from school. We have enjoyed catching up with the students this week and seeing the wonderful progress in their learning. Here are some reminders and notices for Term 4.

Parent Help:  Many thanks to the families who have offered support for upcoming events across the school and within Te Hapua. Please touch base with Mrs Bartlett via j.bartlett@woodend.school.nz if you are able to help with any of these activities or events.

Woodend School Fair:  If you are able to offer time to help at the fair this Sunday (even for an hour or two) please touch base.

Road Patrol:  Please let us know if you are able to help with a set day for road patrol.  This will enable teachers to be in class to meet and greet students between 8.30am and 9am and after school.

Willowbank:  We can take 4 parents per class.  Please let us know if you are able to help with this exciting activity.  We do need to ensure we have enough parent help to go ahead with this event.

Production: To help sort, wash and fit costumes and organise props.

Maths in Te Hapua: We have had a significant focus on teen numbers this week including fluency of sums and understanding place value. You can discuss with your child the fact that the 1 in 13 is in fact a group of 10.  Some students are also working on sums that equal 100 and unpacking the place value of these numbers for example 90 + 3 = 93 or that 456 = 400 + 50 + 6.  Families can continue to support learning around this area at home which will support learning at school.

Te Hapua Trip to Willow bank - On Thursday 23 November Te Hapua will be taking a trip to Willowbank for our Term 4 topic on birds and animals. We will be going on the bus but will require parent support. Please let your pakeke teacher know if you are able to help at this event. We need 4 adults per class to ensure this event can go ahead.  Unfortunately, parent helpers can not attend with toddlers.

Te Hapua Production:  We are super excited about this event and are busy polishing our items.  Please send in named items by the end of Week 2. Here are further details about this event.

On Friday 3rd November, Te Hapua will be presenting their team production - Dr Seuss, the Musical. All the students will have the opportunity to participate in this event. This event will be held in the Community Centre at 10am and 1.30pm. Gold Coin entry. A survey will be sent out this week to enable whanau to tell us which show they will be attending. This will enable us information around the best show for the rest of the school to attend. Costume information for this event is below...
