Mike Crawford —

Heading into week 3, here are a few reminders of upcoming events.

Pink Shirt Day

On Friday the 20th, we will celebrate Pink Shirt Day - An international campaign against bullying.

Celebrated annually around the globe, Pink Shirt Day began in Canada in 2007 when two students took a stand against homophobic bullying, after a peer was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. In Aotearoa, Pink Shirt Day works to create schools, workplaces, communities and whānau where everyone feels safe, valued and respected.

We encourage your child to wear a pink shirt on the Friday. We will be engaging in a set of activities throughout the day using the resources from the campaign.

Swimming

Monday 30th May - Friday 10th June

A reminder, in Term 2 it is our turn to have swimming lessons. Wai Swim are continuing to provide funding for swimming lessons for our students which we are extremely grateful for. Learning to swim is a vital skill for all students and we are extremely grateful that we are provided with such a cost cut making it more accessible to everyone. This means that the cost for all students will be $32.00. Students will travel to and from by bus to Dudley pool that is paid in full in support of the programme by MainPower and North Canterbury Sport.

We have sent home a form, if your child needs another one, please ask them to get another one from their teachers.

Bigger, Better, Brighter Performance - May 20th

This performance group will come to our school and perform in one of our spaces for the students in the Year groups 1-6. This group has performed at Woodend before and was an excellent opportunity for our students to see an interactive and highly skilled group of performers present a show based on a children's book. This event is offered to all students in Year 1-6.

This event, presented by the Perform Education group, will be $3.50 per child or $9 maximum per family. Please send this your child's teacher OR via internet banking with Perform Education as the reference to enable your child to attend this show.
