Linewize Alert for schools and parents:

Adrienne Simpson —

Linewize is alerting schools about this potentially dangerous content that has been seen to impact in the school playgrounds. Linewize is a content filtering and Cyber safety system for schools. Please read the following article about an alert that we have received from them.

We just want you to be aware and talk to your children about this potentially harmful content that can be frightening for children.

A razor-toothed teddy bear character, known as Huggy Wuggy, has been appearing in viral videos that could upset younger children. While there is no need for panic, police have been warning parents and schools to be vigilant of younger children engaging with the now-viral social media character.

We have been aware that some students at school are talking about, drawing and sometimes playing  games in the playground related to this character.

The videos have slipped through the filters on YouTube and TikTok due to their innocent name and malicious creators are also deliberately hiding scary scenes of the character in content aimed at children, meaning young children are possibly viewing the clips. There have also been reports that students are recreating the game in the school playground imitating the characters’ actions and whispering scary dialogue in other students’ ears.

Teachers will be talking to children as needed to help them understand that this content and play is not appropriate for school.

Helping to keep ourselves safe on line is just as important fro all of us.
