Cycle Sense Success

Thank you to the cycle sense group for running such an awesome set of days for our year 6s. Big shout out to our year 6s for showing their intelligent behaviours - The word from the instructors that our students showed some of the greatest maturity in all the schools they had seen this year. 

A big thank you to Rachel for going out on the trip with our kids!

EPro8 Interschool Challenge

Four of our Te Ngahere students will be joining Mr Manzl as he takes our students to compete at Russley School on Thursday. They will be engaging in S.T.E.M activities against the clock. Best of luck team!

Moon and Beyond - Watch our video!

Lots going on with our Moon immersion unit.  Here is another video from M Pakeke designing moon landers(cups) that keep two astronauts(ping pong balls) safe. The hitch was that they weren't allowed to build anything on the cup or on top of the base. 

Wig Wednesday - September 14th

Every week in Aotearoa, three families are told the heartbreaking news that their child has cancer. The treatment these children undergo often means they need to brave the world with no hair.

Our school, is showing support for these children and their whānau by joining us for Wig Wednesday this 14th of September

Getting involved is fun and easy. Simply wear a crazy outfit, favourite wig, style a funky hairdo or even shave your head, all while raising money for Child Cancer Foundation.
A donation for the foundation would be in the form of a gold coin donation.

Guitar

We are seeing more and more students enjoying the Te Ngahere music room and wanting to learn guitar. The best thing you can do for your budding guitarist is show them this video and have them learn their basic chords - This will give them autonomy to learn songs via chord charts.

Also - In regards to purchasing guitars - Mr C would recommend getting nylon string classical guitars over steel string. As students get more proficient with chord shapes and building strength in their hands, only then will a steel string will become ideal. 

We have also included a basic chord chart that you can print, as an attachment to this article.
