It has been wonderful to work with our new year 5s and 6s over the last couple of weeks inside our collaborative space. Our Te Ngahere students have shown great enthusiasm to engage with all the teachers and step outside of their comfort zone by working with others and taking risks in their learning.
Here are a few notes for the next couple of weeks.
Our first sporting event for this year is fast approaching. Swimming sports will be held on Friday 17th February at Dudley Swimming pool. We will be leaving school by bus at 10:30am and returning by 2:30pm. Only a small number of students are competing in the competitive races and their parents are welcome to come and watch these races from 11:15am. We will keep you updated if your child qualifies.
We are so excited to be taking the whole senior school (year 5 - 8) to the pool for the event. This will mean ALL students will be able to watch, do fun races and free swim. There will be no cost for this day. Please let us know if you have any concerns about your child attending. Your child will need their togs, a towel and a packed lunch for this day.
We have been engaging in a number of activities for our students to show kotahitanga (togetherness) and work with new teachers and peers.
With the launch of our literacy and mathematics programmes this week, we will also be exploring our other new values:
Kotahitanga - Togetherness
Auhuatanga - Creativeness
Mōhiotanga - Thinking
Rangatiratanga - Self Determination
Sun Hats
We still have a number of students coming to school without their hats - It our policy to wear them when outside during term 1 and term 4. Caps are not to be worn in place of them.
