A few notes on what we have been up to this term, upcoming events at school, and info around camp.

Hi everyone,

Here we are with less than a month of school left!

What've been up to:

Science
This term we've been having a science focus for our wider curriculum - We've made tinfoil microwaves to bake cookies, demonstrated the power of gravity with water, and looked at whether our heartbeat was affected by external stimuli.

Weight & Measurement

We've been getting the hang of what a kilo is like, weighing various objects using balance and kitchen scales , and understanding the difference between mass and weight.

Book Day

Book day was an excellent chance for our Te Ngahere students to get together with Te Hapua. There was many wonderful moments of sharing reading with their junior peers.

Nutrition

We have been lucky enough for Jessica Smaill from Food for Thought Christchurch coming in to Te Ngahere this Monday and Tuesday to teach our students about healthy nutrition. She will be running 2 classes for each pakeke and providing Te Ngahere with a voucher to select some healthy snacks.

Teacher for a Day

We have been doing persuasive writing across our writing classes and have been receiving applications for our annual teacher for a day. We look forward to some exciting lesson plans and a chance for Mr Crawford, Mrs Hayes, and Miss Loose to participate as a student. We will be selecting our students later this week.

Te Ngahere Day

We will be holding our annual Te Ngahere Day Thursday of Week 8. We will be holding a secret santa (info to come close to the time) morning, whare manu crafting competition, team building rotations, and water fight in the afternoon. Full details of this will come late in week 7.

Camp - Monday 13th, 14th, & 15th December

Camp is still scheduled to go ahead currently with 3 weeks to go! We are also lucky to have our recent student teachers, Kieran Goldsack & Pearl Chapman join us on camp.

If you have not already filled out this camp at level 2 google form, could you please do so ASAP. We still have 21 families yet to fill it out.

Our Camp requirements list will go out next weekend so you have time to prepare for your child.
