We have another busy term ahead in Te Awa, read below to find out what's coming up.

Firstly, we hope that you all had a restful break with your families and we are super excited to see all of the smiling faces back tomorrow. The Te Awa team have been busy preparing some great learning opportunities and activities for your children.

We would like to welcome Roz Ellis back in to Te Awa. Roz returns from maternity leave and we can't wait to work with her again.

Uniform. Now that its a little cooler in the mornings and sometimes throughout the day, we ask that you ensure that your child is bringing a named fleece or sweatshirt. Children play outside at break times and we have daily fitness outside, unless it's raining, so a warm layer is recommended. There are still a few hats around the classrooms, please ask your child to bring it home so that it can be washed ready for the fourth term.

Te Awa Fun Run. We will be holding our Fun Run in week 2, Tuesday May 2nd, after lunch. The children will run a course with obstacles and activities to do along the way. Children from Te Maunga have designed the course and will be there to encourage and help if needed. The emphasis will be on having fun and giving it a go. There will be more information on this coming home soon.

Swimming: Te Awa students will be swimming this term. We are thrilled to advise that Mainpower will be funding these swimming lessons. Swimming will be daily in weeks 7 and 8, but due to Kings BIrthday we have a single lesson week 4.

Swimming At Dudley Park Aquatic Centre @ 12.30-2.30pm

Week 4 – Tuesday (16th May)

Week 7 – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (6th, 7th, 8th, 9th June)

Week 8 – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th June)

Please touch base with your child's pakeke teacher if you have any queries. We will take the bus to and from the pools.

Miniball. Term 2 Miniball will start on Monday of next week, (week 2) . The children will receive t-shirts this week. Payments can either be cash or into the school account. Our bank account: ASB 12 3616 0031570 00 If your child is playing please check for notices on Hero as this is the preferred method of communication. If you are not receiving notifications please let Mrs Hayes know asap.

Scooter track: . On Monday and Wednesday the students can ride on The Scooter track on the Te Awa quad. Students require a helmet and must have their own scooter to ride - no borrowing scooters please. Children are not allowed to ride scooters, roller skates or skateboards any where other than the scooter track.

Wheeled shoes. We ask that you please continue to encourage your child to keep these at home, as they are not to be worn inside or ridden in areas other than on the quad on scooter track days.

Toys. A gentle reminder that toys need to stay at home, unless they are being shared for show and tell. This includes squishies, pop-its and Pokemon and Basketball Cards. Many Thanks for your help with this.

As always, if you need to contact your child's pakeke for any reason please check in before or after school or send us an email.
