Louise Hayes

We hope that you all had a restful break and were able to spend some special time with your families. The teachers have been working hard over the break and we are all super excited to see everyone in Term 2.

Wider Curriculum in Term 2

In addition to the usual core subjects we will be exploring different subject areas this term. Te Awa children will be discovering our Solar System and learning about our neighbouring planets.

We are also going to be delving into Matariki and exploring what it really means in both a New Zealand and global context.

In Health we will begin the term with a focus on Anti-Bullying leading into 'Pink Shirt Day', in this unit we will investigate the what bullying is, what to do if you are being bullied and also how you can support your friends. The second half of the term we will be teaching the 'Keeping Ourselves Safe' program, where the children learn more about safe relationships with their peers. I have added the link to the program which will be supported in class by Constable Ken Terry. Follow this link

Scooters, Skateboards and Wheeled Shoes

Just a wee reminder that these can only be used at break times or at Te Awa Time.

Scooter Days - Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Skates and Skateboards - Tuesday, Thursday and Te Awa time.

Wheels must be walked at all other times for the safety of others. Please can you help us to remind your child keep all users of the Te Awa quad safe. You are most welcome to use the scooter track after 3.30 on school days or weekends.

Toys at School.

We ask that children keep their toys and other treasured belongings at home unless they are sharing the item for news. The item will be kept safe by your child's teacher whilst it is at school.

Mini-ball in Term 2.

Mini-ball starts again on Monday evening. Good Luck to those children playing in this round. We hope that you have fun and learn some skills. Terence Langlands is co-ordinating the teams for term 2.

As usual feel free to contact any of the Te Awa team if you have any questions or concerns. Fingers crossed for a more settled Term 2.
