Wow - week 8 has arrived! The term has gone so fast and we have had a great deal of learning and exciting programmes in our learning spaces. Read on for further reminders for Week 8 and 9.

Learning Moments in Te Hapua:  There are many exciting learning moments happening in the classes and we will be sharing some photos of these learning moments and experiences in our newsletters.  Please feel free to pop in to see what is happening in our classes before school.  We love catching up with whānau and this can be a special time for learning with mum and dad or extended families and a chance for students to show what we are focussing on.  We do ask however that parents leave at the 8.55am bell to enable the teachers to get straight into our learning session and to enable the students to settle for the beginning of the day.

Te Hapua Assembly and Whare Manu Day: This Friday 24th March we have our second Te Hapua Assembly.  This will be held in the Community Centre at 9.15am.  Mrs Graham's class will be sharing some work at this assembly and we will also be singing a song.  Each teacher will be choosing students to receive certificates and parents will be advised if their child is receiving one.  This Friday will also be our second whare manu day. The whare manu groups are our house groups which are based on birds. They are family groups so all children from the same family are in the same group.

Each bird house or whare manu group is also attached to a colour. The students will be starting to learn these as we sit in these groups during morning whanāu time however if you are unsure of your child's colour or team please see your pakeke teacher. The students come to school on Friday in their house colours or wearing something that connects them to that group. Here are some reminders of the whare manu names and their colour.

Tui - Black

Korimako - Yellow

Weka - Red,

Kōtare - Blue

Tauhou - Green

Kererū - White

Te Hapua Fun Run:  In the last week of school we will be having a fun run.  Whanāu are welcome to come along and watch the students run and climb and zig zag and find joy in running and our fun obstacle course which will be designed and set up by senior students.  This will be held on Wednesday 5th April at 11.30am.

Luke the Pukeko:  Luke the Pukeko, our team mascot, lives in our learning spaces and is always looking for students showing our ō Tātou Pou which are our school values.

These values are...

Rangatiratanga - displaying bravery and self management skills

Kotahitanga - displaying team playing skills and being a great role model

Auahuatanga - exploring creativity and self expression

Mōhiotanga - displaying a growth mindset

Each Friday we choose a child who has been displaying one of these values to take Luke home for the weekend. We enjoy sharing photos of Luke the Pukeko when he returns and have attached some photos to this newsletter of the recipients. Well done to all the students who were awarded a weekend of fun with Luke.

Enjoy the following photos - please touch base with your child's pakeke teacher if you have any questions.
