Kia ora koutou,

As Term 2 draws to a close we reflect on another successful and busy term at school. Firstly, I would like to thank parents/caregivers for their support during the term with the teacher-only day as well as the early finishes, teachers discussed their latest offer and for whanau learning huis.

A big congratulations to our Woodend School Debating team who have made the North Canterbury debating final against Ashgrove School. The final will be at Ashgrove School on Thursday 29 June at 6.00pm.

We were thrilled to be able to hold our whanau learning huis this term. It was great to have our parents and families back into school. Our bookings indicate that 70% of our community made appointments. We do know, however, that a few families had to cancel due to illness etc. We strongly encourage you to make contact with your child’s Pakeke teacher and plan a catch up early next term. Our students really enjoyed the opportunity to share their learning with parents.

Celebrating Matariki- During week 1 of next term we'll be celebrating Matariki with a variety of learning activities throughout the week. The final celebration will be held on Friday 21st July with a shared breakfast for students and families from 8am-9am followed by a special Matariki assembly where students will share learning from the week. More information will be sent out next week.

Visiting High School Students

We love seeing our ex Woodend School - now high school pupils when they come to visit on their rostered days off, but we ask if you could please arrange with the teachers beforehand as it does sometimes cause disruption to the classes.

Bake Sale

Yesterday we had a very successful Bake Sale for Te Awa and Te Hapua and raised $1438.40.  This is a huge achievement and goes towards subsidising all students extra curriculum activities.  Many many thanks to parents and students who baked the goodies and to our amazing PSA ladies for all their work in getting this underway and making it so successful.
