Check out all about the Student Leaders' visit to Radio Lollipop!
On June 12th 2023 the Student Leaders went to Christchurch hospital to help out with Radio Lollipop. Radio Lollipop believes in the healing power of play – providing smiles and laughter to children at a time when they need it most. Though some patients are short-stay, many have a recurring need for care and return repeatedly to hospital. Some who are terminally ill spend much of their short lives in hospital. Radio Lollipop gives young patients a voice and a choice during their stay.
We went to help out here because we raised money for them through the lollipop jars. You may remember you or your children would come into the office and guess how many lollipops are in the jar and 2 lucky winners got to take the jar home. Woodend School raised around $280 to give to the radio lollipop team.
All of us Student Leaders got a chance to talk on the hospital radio and play some games with the children. It was an amazing experience and we all loved it VERY much. This is what one of our amazing student leaders himself said: “I thought it was an amazing experience getting to hang out with people that lead and support kids that could need it.” -Lachlan
Thank you to Radio Lollipop for letting us come and hang out with you all. We are all very grateful.
