Please watch out for the survey that your children will be bringing home around the future focus for Woodend School. Ask them what their ideas are and get them to explain their thinking to you.
Over the last week the students have been looking at and wondering about what the world might look like when they finish school as a Year 13. They have a letter that they will bring home for you about their ideas around how we might be travelling, what our houses might be like, what technology might look like and the sorts of skills they might need as members of society. It could look quite different from what we know now.
As a Board and Staff at Woodend School, we are looking towards the future and preparing our students in the best way possible during their time at Woodend School. Part of this involves gaining ideas from our parent community as to the best way of doing this, and the types of values, skills and attributes that you would like your child to have when they leave Woodend as a Year 8.
The survey can be completed on the back of the sheet the children bring home or online using the following link or QR code https://tinyurl.com/y4vz8ojd
The questions we wish you to consider are:
What type of person do you want your child to be when they leave school
In addition to strong numeracy and literacy skills, what other skills what other skills would you like them to have
Our school vision and values are based on "Growing Together To Be The Best We Can Be" and our Intelligent Behaviours - What does this mean to you as a school experience for your child.
What hopes and dreams do you have for the future of Woodend School.
These thoughts and ideas that are gained from our parent community will be used to assist the staff and board in our strategic direction for the future years.
Please fill in the surveys online or on paper and return to school by the end of Week 5 - 15th November. If you have any questions or queries do not hesitate to contact Adrienne - a.simpson@woodend.school.nz
