The last few weeks have been full on! 

Last Thursday our Pasifika rōpū performed at the TOPA (Tamaiti Pasifika Celebration Competition) launch and they were just wonderful! They had to remember and perform several songs with actions, and do this with energy and volume in front of an audience of 500. Our Pasifika rōpū is made up of a range of ages and it is quite a large group. So to see them come together, on stage, with such mana and pride, was really wonderful to see. Thank you to Mr. Tuifao and Whaea Sophie for the time, mahi and aroha they have put into this rōpū. A huge thank you also to Margaret Tay, Alison Motion and parent Sarah Wheeler for the hours of work you have put into sewing the Pasifika dresses and lavalavas. They looked absolutely stunning on stage. What a taonga! Also, a big thank you to our lovely parents who came to watch and support our tamariki.

We also got to enjoy Senior Athletics Day last week. What a day! I was most impressed to see the children’s attitude, effort, behaviour and support for each other. It was wonderful to see so many parents on site as well. Thank you Mr McHugh and the Pohutukawa team for organising this event. 

Of course this week we have been enjoying Book Fair as part of Book Week. Yesterday was a highlight as we all dressed up in our favourite book character, enjoyed a whole-school parade and then enjoyed Grandparents' Day. It was awesome! (see photos below in the newsletter)

Today we will farewelled our Year 4s as they departed for Camp Karakariki. We had some very excited children, parent helpers and teachers. Safe travels and enjoy camp life!
