Scarlet Fever
This is to let you know that we have had two cases of Scarlet Fever in our school. The symptoms are sore throat, high temp, vomiting, headache and a fine red rash which shows up as tiny red bumps starting on the neck and chest then spreading to other areas - looks like a sunburn but is rough to touch. Often the face is flushed. A whitish coating can appear on the tongue. Scarlet Fever is highly contagious. Please remind your child to wash their hands with soap and water and to use safe practices when coughing or sneezing. No sharing of food or drink bottles. The affected person can return to school 24 hours after treatment on antibiotics begins.
