Samoan Language Week

Simon Tuifao —

Talofa lava, Woodstock School whānau!

We are excited to begin our Pasifika Language celebrations with Samoan Language Week next week.

This year’s theme is: ‘Ia malu lou sā. Folau i le lagi mā’‘A well-grounded self is a successful self’.

Although next week is a shorter school week due to King’s Birthday, we are making the most of it with meaningful activities, including cultural videos, the flying of the Samoan flag, and other learning opportunities to celebrate the beauty of Samoa.

We warmly invite our families to help decorate our school office to bring the week to life. If you have any Samoan items, ornaments, or cultural taonga you would be happy to lend for display, we would love to showcase them. Rest assured, your treasures will be looked after with care and respect.

We’re also holding an assembly next Thursday, 5 June at 9:00am in the school hall, where our amazing Pasifika group will perform their sasa and share the first phase of their performance journey. We’re honoured to be joined by the Pasifika group from Hamilton Girls’ High School, who will share a special item as part of the celebration.

Let’s come together for a morning filled with alofa, pride, and unity as we acknowledge and uplift Samoan culture.
All whānau are warmly welcome.

Fa’afetai tele lava/thank you so much for your ongoing support.
