Our Rebuild has begun
We are pleased to be partnering with Hann Construction, with works beginning 3 October.
Kia ora whānau and caregivers,
We are delighted to announce, alongside the Ministry of Education, that the redevelopment of our school teaching spaces, which involves the construction of two new buildings is due to commence.
Christchurch-based construction firm, Hann Construction, have been awarded the contract to undertake the works.
Hann have a proven record working on education campus redevelopments across Canterbury, and we are very pleased to be working with them on this exciting stage for our school.
Construction will commence on 3 October with the establishment of an access culvert, site fencing, asbestos removal and demolition of Block C (current Te Pihinga teaching space) happening during the term holidays to reduce impact on the school. Please see the attached document regarding asbestos removal.
Teachers will be working with students and whānau around relocating in preparation for the new term.
Term 4 will see the construction of a new block that will house 4 teaching spaces and will likely take around 9 months to complete.
We will continue to keep all whānau and community stakeholders updated on progress and expected completion dates as we get nearer the time.
Once this block is operational, demotion of B Block (current Te Kākano teaching space) will be undertaken and then a new 2 teaching space block will be constructed before A block (current Te Māhuri space) is demolished.
We are looking forward to seeing our new developments meet the educational needs of our students as well as further reflect our cultural narrative.
You can see more information on our school website.
Thank you to all those who have contributed along our journey to get to this point. To the teachers, whānau, students,Te Taumutu Rūnanga, Board members, Ministry of Education delivery managers, designers and many others we could not have done it without your voices and your input.
