Learning Support
Support for learners who have additional needs is a high priority at Yaldhurst Tōtara Tūkaha.
Our learning support programmes are overseen by a SENCo (Special Education Needs Coordinator) and a Learning Support Coordinator and include support for:
Literacy - Reading/Writing
Mathematics
English Language Learners
Neurodiverse Learners
Gifted & Talented Learners
Behaviour
High Health Needs
Social Skills (via Lego Therapy)
We use a multifaceted approach to meet the needs of learners with additional needs including:
In-class support from the teacher, in addition to normal classroom programmes
Support from a teaching assistant
In class
Small group
Individual
Additional resources for parents to use at home
Referrals to outside agencies for example:

Ministry of Education (e.g. Speech Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists)
Blind Low Vision New Zealand
We are also happy to support parents who seek advice from GPs, Pediatricians, and other specialists by completing forms and providing supporting information.
