Nau mai to our University of Canterbury Student Teachers

Allan Robertson —

Meet our student teachers who will be at our school for the following four weeks. It is wonderful to have them in our classrooms!

Kia ora koutou, my name is Rachel Earle and I 'm a student teacher in my second year studying my bachelors in Primary School teaching at the University of Canterbury.  My family lives just out of Blenheim a 100 acre farm in the Onamiautu Valley which is where I grew up.  My hobbies include raising animals, endurance riding and playing the guitar with dad.  I am super excited and grateful to the awesome community here at Yaldhurst Model School for being so welcoming and giving me this opportunity to develop my own teacher identity.  Only one week into placement and I've already picked up on lots of valuable teaching practices to help me on my journey.  I can't wait to see what the next four weeks have in store.

Ngā mihi nui , Rachel Earle

Kia ora, my name is Anne Gillespie, and I am a second year at the University of Canterbury. I grew up in the States and I am an American and a Kiwi and have come over to Aotearoa to study! I am currently in Te Pihinga classroom and loving it! The school has been very welcoming towards me and I look forward to another 4 weeks here.

Kia ora Yaldhurst Model School! My name is Cassidy Rae, and I am a student teacher from Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha (The University of Canterbury). I am originally from the West Coast, so I love all things nature and outdoors. Living in Christchurch is completely different to what I am used to, but I am really enjoying it. I am in my second year at the University and am loving the hands-on experience and opportunities we get to work with a wide range of schools. I am super excited to be working with Heather Tebbett in Te Kākano for the next four weeks so if you see me around school, please come and say hey!
