Structure of the School Day
Please see how our day is set out for optimum engagement in learning.
Play, Eat, Learn
Understanding the sequence of play, eat, and learn can positively impact a child's attention and readiness to learn. Research suggests that when children engage in play before eating, followed by learning, it can enhance their focus in the classroom. By prioritising play before eating, children are less likely to rush through their meals, promoting healthier eating habits. Moreover, having learning activities after meals can help children feel more relaxed, attentive, and prepared to learn. This concept is following research from Dr Kathleen Liberty, an Associate Professor at the University of Canterbury; a number of schools across New Zealand follow this.
