Kia ora koutou

Nga mihi nui ki a koutou. It was great to see parents and children at school last Wednesday evening to enjoy activities with Kelly Club (children) and to listen to Mark Treadwell (parents). Mark had some really interesting things to say. The thing I liked most was his insistence that the reason some people start to lose basic knowledge or forget why they entered a room is because they are smart. That always happens to me! I am relieved that the reason I have been forgetting possessive apostrophes or getting homonyms wrong, even though I fully know their (is that the right/write their/there/they're?) correct usage, is not simply because of ageing, but because my brain is full of higher order thinking which is then kicking out what it deems to be less important knowledge.  Phew!I was getting worried. Now when I get something wrong, I will just be able to shrug my shoulders and say with nonchalance, "It is because I am smart!" What a way out!

Anyway, to more serious matters, congratulations to Jen Jones who was the successful candidate in our Board of Trustees By-Election. A great big thanks to Ambica Dixit who also put herself forward as a candidate. They would have both made admirable Trustees.

Our finalised Education Review Office Report is now online. Please access it here. We are very pleased with the report - it says lovely things about how capable your children are as learners; and we are pleased that it suggests pathways for the ongoing growth and development of the school. They will be coming back in 4 - 5 years for their next review. Their choice of this time period,  shows confidence by ERO in the ongoing self-review processes of the school. They believe we are internally motivated to keep developing and improving as a school. Thanks to all, especially students and teachers, for all that they contributed to a successful review.

The photos from the ski camp are glorious. What a great experience for the parents and students who are away for the week on ski camp. A BIG thanks to Angela who has useful  connections with the ski field and organises this camp every year. I really appreciate her willingness to go above and beyond. I also appreciate her regular updates. So good for those of us left behind.

Have a wonderful weekend. Ka kite ano.

Warmest regards

Lesley
