Amesbury Digest - 26th July 2021

Kia ora koutou,

Welcome back to Term 3; it is hard to believe we are in the second half of the year already! I hope people have had a good break. It was certainly nice to hear staff talking about having time to relax, spend quality time with friends and family, and in some cases travel to different parts of New Zealand.

The recent flooding has caused considerable issues in our local community, and our thoughts and best wishes go out to families who have experienced flooding in their houses or on their property. If there is anything we can do to help, please don’t hesitate to let us know.

Our school buildings fared well in all the rain, but our wetlands and parts of our bike track have not done quite so well. There will be some work needed on the bike track and surrounding area at the back of the wetlands, as this area has sustained some damage. There is fencing closing off the worst affected areas of the grounds, and this may be up for some time while we work on it.

Staffing update

This term we welcome Yeping He to our teaching team. Yeping joins us as a full time release teacher for Terms 3 & 4. She will be largely based in Koru Hub, but will also do some release teaching in the other teams.

For the next few weeks Rachel Watson will be partly on leave and also completing some work from home, whilst she supports the recovery of a family member who has not been well. A number of people will be working in reception in the meantime. We will do our very best to maintain the well run ship that Rachel manages in reception; please bear with us if things are not quite so efficient in the next wee while.

Some exciting news: construction on our new hub building is now going full steam ahead. Please see the attached article, with images and a fabulous walk through video of the new building.
