Growing the mission at Glenmark-Waikari

Key Glenmark-Waikari parishioners met recently to develop their mission plans

I'd never been to the St James' Presbyterian Church at Hawarden - just off State Highway 7 only a few kilometers from Waikari. It's got that most amazing stained-glass window of Jesus the Good Shepherd - perfect for a rural church. 17 of us gathered for worship there - thanks Elspeth for a beautiful and inspirational service!

Morning tea followed in the hall which is being partially renovated. We then got into the serious business of being reminded of the Missio Dei and how we're all called to participate in God's mission and help our local churches to grow.

At the end of the session we came up with three Missional Priorities as follows;

  1. Developing a Communications Strategy to reach people in their homes
  2. Develop an outreach strategy for the stunningly refurbished St Paul's Church Glenmark
  3. Support the new family who has recently joined the parish and encourage other families to join

Thanks Elspeth, John and all your parishioners for your warmth and hospitality!
