Avonside eSport leaders hosted teams from Chisnallwood Intermediate, Shirley Intermediate, Queenspark School, Parkview Pārua School and Waitākiri Primary School to play in a team MineCraft tournament.
HERSTORY is an annual competition run for current students of Avonside Girls High School (AGHS). Students are encouraged to research or interview a past pupil and write a story or poem about the past pupil. It is hoped that the story or poem will include some observation of the past pupil's time at high school and whether they believe their time at AGHS had an impact on their life.

This year, the Visual Arts department introduced a new one-off semester course thanks to the Creatives in Schools programme.

Our winning team of the senior division was: Kalya O'Callaghan, Eva O'Callaghan and Neve Overend.
The first ever Cookie Baking Competition was held by Avonside's Tech Council this week, with four pairs going up against each other.
The Kafataha for Tongan Language Week was a major success! Students participated in an array of fun, team building activities, games and food.
Sunny Radzyner, one of our Year 13 students, has been awarded runner up in the Liberate Your Words Schools Poetry Award competition. Congratulations Sunny this is an awesome achievement.

For term 4 we will change the bus departure times for Monday and Tuesday from 3.10 pm to 3.00 pm.
Four of our students attended the NZ Secondary School Swimming Champs in Wellington held on 20th - 24th July.
This year the competition was held in two parts - the first being a multiple-choice and short answer exam sat entirely online, while the second part was a paper exam.
This campaign is working to raise money towards a better outpatient facility for youth in Christchurch who need mental health support.
Should cities be required to plant trees to help combat climate change? Should countries only negotiate trade agreements with countries which have met their Paris Agreement climate goals?
Congratulations to Zoe Frodsham who has been selected as the female reserve for the Canterbury Surfing Team going to Gisborne for nationals this year!
Huge congratulations to Renee Drury for gaining a credit certificate in the Australian Maths Competition. A Credit certificate is awarded to a student who has not received a higher award but is in the top 55% of their year and region.
