Term Two has got off to a flying start with lot's of interesting and exciting activity. STEAM (Science, technology, engineering, arts, maths) programmes have been to the fore!

The first 4 weeks have flown by.  Read on to see what has happened

What's been happening in the Year 7 team this Term?

New roles have been announced and fundraising is underway.

The Year 8's have been making a wide variety of sauces and pastry in preparation for making their designer pies.

Students in two of the Year 8 classes have brainstormed, designed and are now in the process of creating  fabric houses in a variety of 2 and 3 dimensional forms.  Many are close to being completed and I look forward to making a display in the classroom of the completed outcomes.

Another rotation of Year 7's is well underway and next week another batch of gorgeous cushions will be completed.

Room 7, 8 & 13 Food Technology Students have been working hard developing and marking their perfect pie.  

Group 3 have almost finished in the Food Technology Room and cooked a wide variety of food.

Students have pushed themselves to finish excellent projects and are proud of their results.

This term, during Library sessions,  students from each class have been presenting oral book reports of their chosen novel.

On Friday 12th May the Zine Competition winners from the Dunedin Readers and Writers Festival were announced at the Public Library by Kate de Goldi and Paul Beavis.  Lily Knox was Highly Commended.

A reminder that when dropping your children off at school NOT to stop on the bus stop, yellow lines or over driveways.

We again have a huge variety of unnamed lost property. Please encourage your child to check the library foyer where the lost property is kept Please ensure that ALL items of clothing are clearly named.

Last weeks science in block 3

The basketball season is now underway with round 2 games taking place at the Edgar Centre on Monday night.

Room 4 has been thoroughly engaged in learning about the principles of flight. We have focused on paper planes and testing a variety of planes and recording data. 

On Tuesday Room 7 were lucky enough to head down to Otago Boys High School to have a sizzling science lesson in the lab with HOD teacher Mr Tim Ashdown!

In Room 1 we have undertaken lots of science based activities over the last 2 weeks to understand more about the scientific process.

Working collaboratively on a STEM challenge in Block two! 

The Honey Badgers Syndicate of Room's 7,8 and 13 have spent the last two weeks immersed in STEM design challenges as part of our Wonderment Term Two theme. 

Block 3 used the design of the Cardboard Cathedral to explore how to design and construct a strong structure but using fragile materials. 

Class photographs are on display and ready to be ordered.

Room 9 has been developing strong ANZAC recounts using the feedback from the camp recounts and  developing  writing goals.  Here are some of our recounts.  

We have a major focus on improving our knowledge and speed of our basic facts.
