Our school values: Respectful, Resilient, Responsible
by Catherine Neidhardt

Kia ora e te whānau,

For kura across Aotearoa New Zealand, it is very common to have a set of school values. These values reflect the principles, beliefs, and attitudes that each school community holds and aims to instill in its students. These values can also help to guide the behavior and decision-making of students.

Here at Bethlehem School, our three values are:

  1. Respectful: Treating others with dignity and consideration.

  2. Responsible: Being accountable for one's actions and decisions, and taking ownership of one's learning and growth.

  3. Resilient: Showing determination in the face of challenges, and striving to achieve one's goals.

These three values (our three Rs) form the foundation of what it means to be a Bethlehem Kid at our school. You will also see them reflected in our Class and Principal's Awards and on the green BK Bracelets that are given out to each of our students at the beginning of each year.

From next week, our values will also be visible in our new flags that will be located at the entrance to the kura and within the school grounds. The students were introduced to the new flags at assembly yesterday afternoon and will be on the lookout for them next week.

Our three school values help us as educators to create a positive and supportive learning environment that will help prepare our tamariki for success in our school and beyond.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

Ngā mihi nui

Cath
