PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Future direction for our kura.
    by Catherine Neidhardt

Kia ora e te whānau,

The last few weeks have been filled with a range of amazing events for our tamariki. We have participated in Top Schools, hosted our Tabloid Sports Day (Go Kowhai House!) and crowned our Bethlehem Superstars for 2023! Our kura continues to be an exciting place to be.

Part of being in an exciting place, is the motivation to look towards the future. In doing so, our school has developed a strategic plan that provides us with a road map to the future outlining our priorities and focus areas for the coming years.

Just over a year ago, we underwent a community consultation process and gathered staff and student feedback to identify the key areas of development that were important to everyone. As a school, we wanted to create a plan for the future that would reflect the goals and aspirations of our community.

We are now focused on developing and resourcing three main areas:

1.) Building a Localised Curriculum (designing learning experiences and programmes that reflect our Bethlehem community, connections, people and history)

2.) Learner-Centred Approach (developing student self-efficacy with students becoming active agents of their own learning by taking increased responsibility)

3.) Future-Focused Pedagogy (developing and extending effective teaching practice using a range of methods and approaches to cater for the future)

Our kura is a dynamic place to be and we look forward to working alongside our community to effectively prepare our tamariki for the future.

Ngā mihi

Cath
