PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

End of the year celebrations!
    by Catherine Neidhardt

Kia ora e te whānau,

As our school year is coming to the end, it is a natural time to reflect on 2022 at our kura. In many ways, last February feels both just like yesterday and also a very long time ago, with COVID having a significant impact on our beginning-of-year plans.

Now that we are in Term Four, our calendar has been filled with amazing learning and community events and it has been wonderful to be able to get back to life in a busy and exciting kura.

As always, our fantastic staff have been the backbone to another successful year, not only academically, but also providing a safe and happy place for our tamariki to be a part of every single day. I want to thank them for their contribution that makes our school so special. I would also like to acknowledge the following staff: Whaea Rāhera, Mrs Alexander, Mrs Goodwin, Miss Mead, Mrs Wilson and Mrs Hill, our best wishes as they move to their respective next chapters after Bethlehem School. Whether it be for travel, family, new opportunities or retirement.

New members of staff will be joining our Bethlehem whānau for the start of 2023 and we will introduce them to everyone in the first newsletter of the year.

Our students continue to be the reason why we as educators come to school each day. They constantly live our three school values of being Respectful, Resilient and Responsible every day of every week. Our departing Year 6 students are great examples of what it means to be a Bethlehem Kid and we cannot wait to see how they progress over the years. The future is in good hands!

It has been a long few years and our summer holidays will see many whānau reunite with their loved ones from both here in Aotearoa and from abroad. I myself, will be spending the holidays with my father visiting from Canada, who have I not seen since COVID began.

I hope that everyone within our Bethlehem whānau has a wonderful holiday season with friends and family and we cannot wait to welcome you all back again for the start on the new school year on January 31 for Korero Mai.

Noho ora mai

Catherine
