ASC Keynote Opening Speaker - Paula Bennett

Paula is a New Zealand former politician who served as the 18th deputy prime minister of New Zealand between December 2016 and October 2017.

Paula entered parliament in 2005 as a list MP, and her maiden speech in the House outlined many of the values she continues to fight for today, in particular, her desire to see New Zealanders succeed and thrive.

In 2008, Paula won the Waitakere seat and was appointed to cabinet as Minister of Social Development, Employment, Disabilities, and Youth Affairs. She steered some major reforms through these challenging portfolios amid the Global Financial Crisis, including innovative social welfare reforms that aimed to put Kiwis back in the driver’s seat of their lives.

Before becoming National’s Deputy Leader and Deputy Prime Minister in 2017, Paula also held the Ministerial portfolios of Women, Police, and State Services.

Outside of Parliament, Paula lives in West Auckland with her husband, cat, and various children and grandchildren all of whom seem to come and go as they please. Since becoming a Celebrant, she has added wedding officiation to her range of hobbies, which include fishing, cooking, music, and a cold chardonnay.

School Administrators Keynote Speaker Christchurch/Wellington - Claire Turnbull

Claire is New Zealand’s leading nutritionist and the founder of Mission Nutrition, with a team of 10 Dietitians and Nutritionists working alongside her around New Zealand, supporting people to improve their lives and wellbeing. 

She is a published author with two best-selling books: ‘Lose Weight for Life’ and ‘Feel Good for Life’, and has self-published her well-being planners.

For over 17 years, she has been the nutritionist for Healthy Food Guide and does a vast amount of work in the media in NZ, including prime-time TV shows and regularly featuring on TVNZ Breakfast, Fair Go, and Newstalk ZB.
