The Christchurch Boys' High School U20 team broke the New Zealand 3000m Team Pursuit record at the recent South Island Championships. 

Congratulations to Christchurch Girls’ High School on their soon to be opened new building. It is superb. The building contains a Performing Arts Centre, administration space and the best examples of modern classrooms that I have seen. The new building provides a view of what the future campus will be like. What is fantastic is that when the rebuilds are complete both of our schools will have facilities that are equal or even better than the independent schools.

One hundred years as the boarding house for Christchurch Boys' High School is an event well worth celebrating and a large number of Old Boys congregated to do just that over Labour Weekend.

Alex Dann, of Year 9, did remarkably well in the NIWA Canterbury Westland School’s Science & Technology Fair held over the weekend of the 9th & 10th of September and hosted by Ara Institute of Canterbury.

A long week in the tumble drier, that is Tournament Week in Palmerston North, couldn't have ended more successfully for the CBHS 1st XI. The team showed true grit and character to hold on to a 2-1 over Trident to finish 9th equal and top of the middle 8.

Long serving, well-respected teacher and much loved member of staff, Christine Todd resigned last month after 31 years of service to Christchurch Boys’ High School.

Senior students have continued to enjoy work place learning opportunities made available to them through the Gateway programme, with many achieving workplace qualifications.

On Wednesday 30 August, Year 10 French students took part in an activity day with students from Rangi Ruru Girls’ School. First, we watched a French movie, and then went over to Riccarton House where we had some French pastries and Orangina for morning tea.

There are three scholarships which are available (by application) for Christchurch Boys’ High School students who go on to study at University. 

With the official opening of the new school hall now complete, it is important to recognise a significant piece of Christchurch Boys’ High School history.

The Deans Buildings at Christchurch Boys’ High School are those with significant history. After being built in 1856 and surviving the Christchurch earthquakes and a fire, they are close to being fully reopened again.

Early in Term Three, the Technology Department took possession of a new laser cutter to enhance our use of CAD CAM within both the Materials Technology and Design and Visual Communication Programmes. 

Cyclone Computers will be available in the hall on 31 October 2017 from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm to show current students and parents the recommended devices for 2018. If you are considering a new device for your son in 2018, we suggest that you come and have a chat with the Cyclone team.
