Congratulations to the following students who will lead our school through 2021:

The Australian Mathematics Competition is sat by the most talented mathematicians in New Zealand and Australia. This year, due to Covid, only a small number of Year 9 and Year 10 CGHS students participated in this competition.

Every year, students in Year 12 are offered the opportunity to compete in the May Campbell Anderson Competition by completing an additional English exam. This is one of our department’s most prestigious awards and this year’s winner is Kate Gardiner with runner-up, Emily Koller.

On Sunday the 1st of November, our kapa haka group stood at their first ever competitive performance at the Tūhono Kapa Haka Festival.

The Mavis Atkinson Competition for the painting of New Zealand flora and fauna is run annually by the Science Learning Area. This year's subject was the NZ Rata Metrosideros umbellata

On Saturday 31st October, Ellie Busfield, Charlotte Borcoskie, Daisy Aaron and Maisie Croall from Year 9 participated in the Junior Theatresports competition organised by The Court Theatre.

Last year, students created hearts in their English classroom as a tribute to our Muslim community. Recently, these hearts were framed and displayed at the entry point to the English Department.

Charlotte Hawkins (Year 13 2017) is part of a team of Canterbury University students fighting the country's period poverty crisis by donating sanitary products to Te Puna Oranga and Aviva Families and raising $1000 in the process.

The CGHS PTA Secondhand Uniform Shop opens once a month on a Saturday from 12-1.30 pm for both sales and receiving. EFTPOS is available. The shop will be open next on Saturday 7th November.
