Cobham Girls A Basketball having a thrilling SIPT tournament this weekend.

A very tired looking team after they completed the finals, having a lead for most of the game, coming in second place with a 2 point defeat against a strong North Canterbury team.

Over the weekend, our Cobham girls A team competed in the SIPT tournament in Rangiora. Having only trained together in the last few weeks, the girls played with exceptional heart and determination against both school and representative teams. The team won all their round robin games except for North Canterbury who won that game convincingly.

The girls had good belief in themselves going into the final and started with a healthy lead which they held throughout most of the game. North Canterbury were not to be ruled out and made a steady come back after half time. The game was fought right down to the last seconds on the clock.

The team should be very proud of their early successes of the season. A big thank you to coach Sam, and all the wonderful parents and families for their support on the sidelines.
