Pikorua’s Wearable Arts

by Kylie Meyer

The students of Pikorua worked hard during Term One on creating wearable arts for the Tongan and Filipino cultures. The students enjoyed learning about these two countries and their culture. They were then faced with the challenge of creating wearable art pieces to represent the past, present and future for both the Tongan and Filipino culture. The students worked cooperatively and interdependently on this task and had to apply problem solving skills to complete this inquiry. The students did a fabulous job of creating the wearable arts to represent Tonga and the Philippines. They then showcased them beautifully at the Year 8 WAAOW (Wearable Arts Around Our World) Exhibition.
