Principal's Pānui - Week 4 -Term 2 2023

Chris Smith / Marie Bianco —

Tēnā Koutou Katoa,

I am absolutely thrilled to extend my warmest congratulations to our Showquest competitors' achievement at the event on Monday Evening.   To secure 2nd place overall and also capture the prestigious School Spirit Award, which speaks volumes about your effort, enthusiasm, and ability to take on the challenge is a very pleasing result, one you should be very proud of.    Thanks to the staff that supported you across the last month, who gave up their own time and put an enormous amount of effort to ensure the tamariki were successful in their endeavours.  Of course again we rely upon our whānau support which continues to contribute to our shared partnership as a learning community.

On Wednesday 24 runners headed off to the Year 5 and 6 Zone Cross Country.  To our competitors in this event, congratulations on qualifying for the zone sports and challenging yourselves against our neighbouring schools.   Fantastic results with 12 runners qualifying for the CPPSA Cross Country at Nga Puna Wai next month.   See link below for details.

Best of luck to for our Junior School that will take on their own Cross Country tomorrow -  fingers crossed the weather is good and it can go ahead!

On Friday 16th June we will hold a Mufti Day to raise funds towards our inaugural Matariki Community Celebration evening. Any local businesses or whānau wishing to assist with the event do please touch base with Marie.

If I can be of assistance please do make contact.

Ngā mihi nui

Pink Shirt Day tomorrow Friday 19th May

Pink Shirt Day 2023 — Image by: Cameron Anderson

Tomorrow, Friday 19th May 2023 Cotswold School will again be supporting and celebrating Pink Shirt Day to Speak Up, Stand Together, Stop Bullying!

We ask that the children wear pink to show our support for the day. This can be from a pink t-shirt, skirt or shorts or even wearing a pink ribbon or colour their hair pink.

The day is to celebrate diversity, spread aroha and end bullying in Aotearoa. We will be collecting a gold coin donation at the Front and Back Gates before school, and all funds raised will go to the Mental Health Foundation.

It will be a mufti-day for all, however, we are encouraging children to wear the colour pink in some way.

Junior Cross Country tomorrow Friday 19th May

As this the Junior Cross Country coincides with Pink Shirt Day junior students can choose if they wear pink or their house colours but do need to be wearing appropriate footwear and clothing for running.

Unfortunately due to wet weather on Friday the Cross Country has been postponed until Tuesday 23rd May.

NOTE:  this date has been changed from our original postponement date.

Due to the forecast for next Friday also not looking good we have moved the Cross Country for our Juniors to Tuesday 23rd to give it the best chance of going ahead for our students.

School Donation 2023 — Image by: Marie Bianco

School Donation 2023

The Board has set the 2023 school donation at $150.00 per child to a maximum of 3 children – i.e. $150.00 for one child, $300.00 for two children and $450.00 for three or more children.

During 2022 we used the money received from the school donation to provide additional learning support programmes for all our students. This has had a very positive impact on student achievement. We will continue to use the money received from donations during the 2023 school year to provide additional learning support for our students. This will include both book and people resources.

While school donations are not compulsory, we do appreciate the commitment made to our school by a large number of our parents who make the requested donation. We also appreciate and acknowledge a number of donations made by parents over and above that requested and for special school activities like camps and swimming.

A School Donation request will be sent to parents early in Term 1.  Receipts can be accessed via the school Hero App.

End of Financial Year Tax Receipts are now available to download via Hero.
