Aotearoa New Zealand Spelling Bee - Central North Island Semi Finals
Kayla Bryant, Dawson Hillary, Isabelle Huang and Emilia Shyra represented Hillcrest High School exceptionally well at the semi finals for this national competition on the 11th of September.
They competed in tense knock out rounds against 38 other competitors from schools as far away as New Plymouth. Congratulations to Dawson Hillary who secured a place in the finals in Wellington by making it into the top four spellers! He won return air tickets for two and accommodation overnight so he can compete in the final in Wellington on 3-4 November. The winner of the 2023 Aotearoa New Zealand Spelling Bee receives $5000 and the 2023 Spelling Bee Champion Trophy. Good luck, Dawson!
