Maaori Language Month

For the month of Mahuru (September), kaiako across the kura have set themselves a wero (challenge) to use more te reo Māori. For some staff, that has meant leading the school karakia in staff briefing, or beginning their classes with a te reo Māori starter.

Ms Erica Hamilton began the month with an address to the Year 9 assembly in te reo Māori. Mrs Amber Ganley led staff in their morning waiata, and Mrs Andrea Sharpe is beginning and ending her classes in te reo Māori. It has been great to see staff stepping up to the challenge and putting themselves outside of their comfort zone - something we always encourage our ākonga to do.
